[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen got me a certificate for a hot stone massage! Not something I would have put on my wish list but something I will totally enjoy. Thanks my love!

I've been accused of stealing picnic baskets, books and mouse hearts! Not true!

They left the food on the table which means it was free for the taking!

She gave me that book!

She gave me that heart too!

Innocent! I am innocent!

Today is the beautiful [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen's birthday! I hope you have a great day, my love! Here's a song that makes me think of you:

How can you be
Like a sky stretched out before me
And the world is turning your way
Even darkness is better this way

Can it be true
That it all comes rushing from you
When my resistance is gone
And there's nothing that I can lean on

You are the wind at my back
You give what I lack
You're the jewel in my hand
You're like rain on dry land

You're the focus the beam
You're realities dream
You're the blue in my black
You're the wind at my back

All of the above
I'II have the lot for my love
And as we're becoming somehow
As we're changing the future to now

I just want to live
In the place that you have to give
I'll let the heat beat me down
Until the water comes down

You are the wind at my back
You give what I lack
You're the jewel in my hand
You're like rain on dry land

Yon're the focus the beam
You're realities dream
You're the blue in my black
You're the wind at my back

You are the wind at my back
You give what I lack
You're the jewel in my hand
You're like rain on dry land

And my soul has been kissed
Just because you exist
You're the dream that's a fact
You're the wind at my back

You're the wish that I make
You're the prize I might take
You're the gold that is free
You're the groom on one knee

You're the focus the beam
You're realities dream
You're the blue in my black
You're the wind at my back

Today was a good day. First I made bacon for [livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast, [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and myself. Bacon good!

Next I went to play with my Little Brother for our weekly outing. We spent the time rocking out on Guitar Hero III. We played the co-operative career mode and were doing really well. He's gotten a lot better since we started playing. It won't be long before he starts to pass me I think.

Then we come to the highlight of the day. [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen found this intriguing store called Magic Mouse Toys. So we had to go check it out. Oh! My! Goodness! This is a fantastic toy store! We will have to go again when we have much more money and time. It was two stories of toys, games, puzzles and fun things.

Elliott Bay Book Co. is only a few blocks away from the toy store and since I had never been we had to go. [livejournal.com profile] hollyking like! I was tempted by so many books but I was able to resist all but a copy of The Jefferson Bible. So many good books I need to read.

Next weekend we're going to have to go back down to Pioneer Square. This time however, we'll go a lot earlier in the day so that we can check out a lot more shops. Because of the late hour this time we missed such places as the Seattle Mystery Bookshop. Who knows what else lurks in the corners?

Us

Three years ago today [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen did me the honor of becoming my wife. It’s been up and down, but the ups far exceed the downs and I wouldn’t have wanted anything else. I love you my Queen of the Holly!

I still remember fondly the wonderful simple ceremony performed by [livejournal.com profile] publis_ovidius. And the fact that the “best man” forgot about the wedding and brought along his date. [livejournal.com profile] shadowmatt took some pictures, one of which is the icon on this post. Sadly I haven’t posted them on Flickr so I can’t share them today.

Help!

They’re ours! [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I have tickets to see The Police when they’re in Seattle this summer. Whoot! I am really excited because my very first concert was The Police at Kemper Arena in Kansas City on Thanksgiving in 1984. I think it’s cool to share this with [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen.

Bears!

Feb. 12th, 2007 08:41 am

I've been a big fan of ursus (sorry I don't know how to properly pluralize Latin words) since I was born. On a whim I decided to look around on LJ for some communities and this time I found [livejournal.com profile] animal_bears. Sweet, looks just like what I wanted.

The downside is that I found out about a great sounding book called The Sacred Paw: The Bear in Nature, Myth and Literature. Why is that a downside? It's out of print. Even the reprints are out of print. There are some sellers on Amazon with copies but I was hoping to find it locally so I could get it tonight.

That reminds me, [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen bought me a book on bears that I need to curl up with. I'm not feeling so great so maybe I'll go home and read it in bed.

Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen. The woman who makes everything better!

Thank you for being your wonderful self and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Take that!

I have to say that [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen is the bestest wife ever. Just being in the room with her makes everything better and with her by my side I know I can overcome. Yes, I did have a good lunch. What makes you say that?

Here’s a few thoughts I had about other things to quash those voices that can torment me so:

  1. Tighten up my iPod playlist. I have a lot of music that’s beautiful but sad. Listening to sad music makes a crack that can be exploited, while listening to upbeat positive music helps me to gird my loins* for battle.
  2. Read some emails and comments. Reminders that there are people out there who like me takes away the launching platform used by the voices.
  3. I’m sure there are more. Ooh, an adventure.

Holy Template Parameters, Batman! My project just compiled. Now the real bug hunt begins.

* Ever since I read Alien Loves Predator I’ve been trying to work that into a sentence.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I were to cranky and exhausted to cook so we decided to go out for dinner. She asked me what I wanted and I said something Japanese would be my preference but I didn't care beyond that. After Boy Scouts and the Marine Corps I'll eat anything1 that sits still on the plate long enough. Well that lovely wife of mine found an all-you-can-eat sushi place called Sushi Ten for us last night. It was great!!!

It wasn't like Todai where they make up a bunch of sushi and you go through the line and pick out what you want. Instead we sat at the bar and the chef kept going around and asking what people wanted. I tried all kinds of things I haven't had before. Just another reason I love my mouse!

In other news I had my first code review at work today. They caught a few minor things I had missed but since 90% of the discussion was over brace alignment2 and tabs vs. spaces3 I'm going to take it as a good sign that they liked my work.

  1. I won't eat Brussel's sprouts or grapefruit because they taste nasty. I used to say I wouldn't eat sweet potatoes but really anything gets better when you deep fry it in hot fat.
  2. There's the one true way, i.e. my way, and the crazy antique method they use. ;)
  3. I gave in and will switch to tabs which gave me enough votes to get my brace style the win.

Update: Added the name of the restaurant above.

New toys!

[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen is being a good Hausfrau and cleaning our "library" so that it can become [livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast's bedroom. I called her earlier and she told me that I couldn't buy anything with cables anymore. It seems I have collected a few boxes of cables and power supplies. Great! Now to run out and buy a whole bunch of wireless gear! New bluetooth keyboard & mouse... Wireless stereo speakers... :D

I just have to say I have the greatest wife in the world! [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen knows how to make the troubles go away. She is also willing to talk about problems and help come up with solutions. Just another reason I love her so much.

She can't keep a secret though. She was bursting at the seams to tell me about some surprise she was planning. I was going to let her tease about it for a while but she just couldn't stop from telling me. She's bid on a sailing trip. Is she great or what?

Every day and in every way life is better now that she's around.

To My Love

A bear once loved a mouse
He found her fun
And all kinds of sweet
So when he chased her around the house He was looking for a treat.

Ok, so James Joyce I’m not.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen!!!

Today marks one year since [livejournal.com profile] publius_ovidius joined [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I in matrimony. The last year has been full of ups and downs. Being with Wren has made the good times better and the bad times bearable. I couldn't have made it without you, my love.

Here's to us and many more years to come!
