[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I think it's high time to have another gaming open house. So we're doing just that. This time we'll be rolling back the rock and opening the cavern on Saturday, May 29th starting at 2pm and going until we kick you all out. After I first announced this I realized it was Memorial Day weekend. I know folks have plans so this is open house style. Drop by when you can and stay as long as you like (subject to previously mentioned kicking).

Bring snacks and drinks and we'll figure out some kind of dinner if necessary. The patio is under construction but it might be finished before Saturday so I can fire up the grill.

We'll have, and I'd like to play:

We'll figure out some kind of pot luck thing for those who will be there around dinner time. This is a special game time because soon [livejournal.com profile] ragnorokt will be with us and we won't have as much room to host for a bit.

This Saturday (April 18th) we'll be opening the doors at 2pm for another movie party. Thanks to the IRS taking all my money the theme is alternative revenue streams. The two movies for the day are:

  1. Quick Change (1990)
  2. Ocean's Eleven (2001)

The outline for the day is to watch Quick Change, take a break for food and then watch Ocean's Eleven. After that we'll break out some games rock the house with Lips and other party games.

Show up when you can for as long as you can.

Our next movie party will be on Saturday April 18th. I think we'll start at 2pm this time so that we can watch the movies and then play games if anyone is left and up for some karaoke or rock band. I'll be putting together the list of selections for the poll later this week, but I wanted to give folks warning so they could keep the 18th free.

I'm planning on picking up a growler or two for the Superbowl Open House. My question is what kind and how much beer would anyone else drink? I will be going to Elysian so you can browse their site to see what beer is available.

Also, while we haven't had a problem with this I'm going to institute a modification of a [livejournal.com profile] nerdvana rule. If you bring wine into the house you must take it home with you if there's any left at the end of the evening. [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I aren't wine drinkers so the bottles just sit there.

[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I are hosting a holiday open house/beer tasting at the Polar Palisade next Saturday, December 27th, from 2pm until midnight. We'll have movies, games, music, conversation, snacks and fun. Come when you can. Bring snacks or drinks to share if you can. I'll have some beer to taste and would love if others could bring some tasters too.

Message me if you have any questions.

Go me!

Saturday we were in the Southern Wilds to help [livejournal.com profile] jedifreeman celebrate another turn around the wheel. I hope he had a good time, it looked like he did. I, without a doubt, had a grand time. I was in a very social and outgoing mood and met two new people who I hope will become good friends. I was able to teach folks Whist and we played a few hands. Sadly I misremembered the rules a bit but not in a way that I think negatively impacted the game.

One “problem” was how quickly [livejournal.com profile] rainonthewind helped [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen in holding me down and trying to unbutton my shirt. They were so mean to me!

The highlight of the night was lying in the grass while being surrounded by three beautiful women. It’s not my fault that everyone else was inside playing Rock Band. I didn’t block the door or anything! ;)

This morning in the shower I had a little thought. It seems that most folks like to make their mod 10 birthdays a big event. Being a geek and a little contrary I want to do something special for my 42nd birthday. After all I have only one year to be the Answer.

I still have a few months to figure out what I want to do but I’m drawing a blank right now. I’m blocking out October 25th for the party.

Well it seems everyone has something else to do this Saturday. So [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I are going to cancel our plans and reschedule them a bit farther out with more warning so people can attend.

Any suggestions for a Saturday that would work?

Party Time!

[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I invite you to come to our place on Saturday the 5th of May to play Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Hero and board games. Starting at 6pm bring some snacks and yourself and prepare to have some fun! Just let either of us know if you are planning on coming or if you have any questions.

Update: It seems everyone is busy so we'll reschedule with a better date in the future.

Well that was a new experience...

Friday started off with a surprise dinner with [livejournal.com profile] raingirllori and [livejournal.com profile] jedifreeman. It seems that [livejournal.com profile] raingirllori forgot her keys and asked for a ride to meet [livejournal.com profile] jedifreeman. Since she offered dinner in the deal and I'm never one to turn down a free meal. I had a great time at dinner and am bummed that I had to cut it short but my contacts had turned on me and they were killing me. I'll be sure to have a fresh pair so we can have a lot more fun on Monday when they come over for dinner.

Saturday was a lazy morning followed by meeting folks for Dim Sum. Along with [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I we had our lovely hostess [livejournal.com profile] intrepid_reason, [livejournal.com profile] imp_of_satan and her hubby and 5 other folks who might be on LJ but I don't know. (If you are one of them and you're reading this let me know. I'm always on the lookout for more friends.) I had a great time talking about movies and other stuff during lunch.

After lunch we ran a few errands such as dropping [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen off at a salon to get her some unnecessary beauty treatments. While she was busy there I ran to to pick up the few Police albums we didn't own. After running around we headed home for some chores and a bite of dinner.

Not much rest at home because we were then off to [livejournal.com profile] walbourn's for a "birthday party." I have to say at first it seemed that we were just invited to the party to be sacrifices or some sort of Donnner Party Dinner, but then [livejournal.com profile] loree and [livejournal.com profile] tithonium showed up and if nothing else provided some slow moving decoys so [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I could escape. Update: [livejournal.com profile] jeliza was there and a couple of other folks who were Texas survivors also showed up. Too bad I don't remember their names.

Sunday. Oh, Sunday. A day I had been simultaneously excited about and dreading. [livejournal.com profile] irgth was going to take some photos of [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and me. I have wanted more pictures of us because I'm usually the one with the camera so I don't end up in a lot of pictures. We met at Alki Point to get pictures of us walking along the shore with Seattle in the background. From the few that [livejournal.com profile] irgth showed us I think he got some great shots. I can't wait to see the results.

After we finished at Alki Point it was off for a bit of dinner before the other half of the photo shoot started. That was the first hardcore photo shoot I've done where I was only a participant and not the photographer/participant. I was unsure how things would go and even if I would be able to relax enough during the shoot. Well that certainly wasn't a problem. While that wasn't the most intense sexual experience I've ever had it was certainly in the top ten. Wow... If [livejournal.com profile] irgth wants more practice I'm a willing subject. *blush*

It’s that time of the year again. The time when we eat far too many snacks, pay more attention to the commercials than the actual game and generally have fun. So I’m setting up a party to watch the Chicago Bears whoop the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI. Since we don’t have a huge place to watch the game I wanted to get an idea of how many people would be interested in coming over.

The kick-off for the game is at 3:25pm on Sunday February 4th, although I’ll be up getting ready much earlier than that. We’ll have some snacks but folks are asked to bring something to share. We have a dining room table now so there will be a place for folks to play games if they’re not interested in the game.

Please reply to his poll so I can start setting up the invitation and the guest list.

Last night was the party for [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen's birthday. We had a great time and as far as I can tell so did everyone else.

So why can't I sleep? I'm not upset. The voices are strangely quiet. I just never fell asleep. Sigh.

I had a great time last night at [livejournal.com profile] nerdvana. Saw lots of friends. Made some new friends. Drank mucho rum. Snuggled with more than a couple hotties. Beyond all that I really my attempts at stepping out and being more social are paying off.

There were a couple of downers from last night. I was just getting over a cold so I had to respectfully decline some lovely ladies who offered me a cloven fruit. I didn't want to pass on any lingering crud to any of them. I remain stoked and completely honored by the fact that they offered. Next party ladies and I'm all yours.

The other downer I didn't realize until a few minutes ago when I started to write this post. I was enjoying myself so much that I forgot to hand out my calling card to some new people. I remember names and friends who made introductions so I bet I can find them all and exchange contact info.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] loree and [livejournal.com profile] datavore for hosting another wonderful night.

[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen is making her way back to Portland after coming up for a visit. It was very nice to see her and get some quality snuggling. Now to make it until Friday when I'll head south to spend the weekend with her.

Saturday was spent driving to get the lay of the land. For lunch we found this great place in Issaquah called Stan's BBQ. Hot damn, Kansas City BBQ and it's not 1,800 miles away. I'm certainly going to be going back. After lunch we drove around Bellevue then Lake Washington.

Saturday night we went and saw The DaVinci Code (2006). I think it was better than the book because they removed a lot of unnecessary stuff but kept the story intact. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you want a good conspiracy story that involves ancient artifacts read Map of Bones by James Rollins. James is a much better author and who can't love an armed branch of DARPA?

Sunday was filled with congratulating [livejournal.com profile] loree with surviving another orbit around the sun. I had a good time and am really pleased with the amount of socializing and conversation I was able to accomplish. I even met some new folks. (Hi [livejournal.com profile] drakemonger and [livejournal.com profile] sebab.) I do have to say it was a little odd being outed as the only non-poly in the house...

So what's up for this week? After looking at my accounts and realizing that it might be 3 more weeks until I get paid again nothing expensive that's for sure. I'll probably spend the time looking for inexpensive activities or catching up on projects that have been on hold.

Last Saturday I went to dinner at the Rheinlander with a few friends who I won't get to see as much since I'll be living in Seattle. Being the crazy guy I am I took the camera and snapped a few pictures. I love the room we used even though it's hard to eat with all the dead animals staring at you.

I've shredded and discarded so much stuff from my past. Usually when I move I keep the things I think I might use again. This time if I haven't touched it in a very long time it was tossed, and by tossed I mean put in a pile for Goodwill or to give to friends. Going through the old boxes wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The only time I had to stop was when I found some photos of my Grandpa and me playing when I was 2-3 years old. I miss him very much.

Now I have to go haul a bunch of stuff off to the dumpster and get packing for my road trip to Cali.
