hollyking: (suicide)

I haven't posted much lately because life has been generally sucky and I didn't have much to say. I still don't but I have to vent a little.

If you didn't know I have a real problem with hypodermic needles. It used to be so bad it would take 30 minutes of meditation before I could relax enough to not react violently to the injection. Thankfully I've improved to the point where I can take a shot without too much trouble. I still wish I could get it through the head of everyone who gives me a shot that the best thing for me is to do it quickly and don't tell me a damn thing about what's going on. They say "little prick" or "just a pinch" and I know what's coming and involuntarily tense every muscle in my body. Of course the one area I still have problems getting shots is my mouth. Let's combine my major phobia along with nails down a chalkboard. At least that's what metal on teeth is like for me. Even hearing someone else bang silverwear against there teeth while eating is unsettling.

This weekend continued the pattern of suck. I was back at the dentist to have the other half of my fillings replaced and this time was a bad one. It took seven injections of anesthetic and most of them were the lucky kind that hit very tender spots. At the end of the last injection I peeled my fingers from the armrest of the chair and was glad that part was over. The rest of the appointment didn't go well but at least my filling aren't about to fall out and I have no cavities.

Today didn't get better because I screwed up my calendar. I had tickets for a cruise on the steamship Virginia V. My calendar said it was on the 19th but the tickets had a date of the 12th. Yep, I wrote down the wrong date and so missed the cruise and dinner. Dammit! Those damn things were expensive and I had been looking forward to the cruise all week.

At least the Chiefs won.

Today I drove [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen to the EMP so she could see what sort of spaces they had to offer for corporate parties. As part of the tour our guide took us through the Double Take exhibit. It was very interesting to see the pairs of art next to each other. I wish we could have had more time to spend browsing the exhibit.
