[livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast tagged me so here you go!

  1. Comment and ask to be tagged!
  2. I will pick THREE of your interests and/or user pics I find odd or nifty!
  3. You post {or comment, as preference strikes}, explaining in detail about the three I chose!

So here are the three she picked for me:

Userpic - IVV logo

The International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV) is an international organization composed of national associations and clubs that organizes popular sports (volkssports) events.

I want to get out and get more active so I’ve been browsing the IVV pages for information on how to get started and events in the area.

Interest - tinne

Tinne is the Irish name of the 8th letter of the Ogham alphabet. It is also the word for holly and we all know how much I like Holly. ;)

Interest - Simon Barsinister

Simon Barsinister was my favorite villian from Underdog. There’s a nice statue that was produced to see what he looked like.

Beth Moore (http://www.lproof.org/) is one of the few female Christian authors that writes Bible studies and other study material for women that doesn't insult my intelligence. Although she is a big haired Texan and loves her make-up she does it with a self aware silliness that makes her a joy to listen to rather than a drag. She's one of the few women's speakers I've heard who aren't trying to make Christian women be better Christians by being better wives and mothers, but is instead trying to make us better women, wives, mothers, friends, sisters, whatever by being better Christians. (If you appreciate the distinction, I know I do!)

Koine is the common Greek language used around the time Jesus. It was used for trade in the entire Greek empire for 250 years before Christ and 250 years after, making it the perfect time / language to spread the gospel to the known world. :) Koine literally means "common". It is different and more simple than Attic Greek, which is the more formal and "learned" Greek that Homer et. al. wrote in. The New Testament, for the most part, was written in Koine. It's the type of Greek I study.

Third Day (http://www.third-day.com/) is a contemporary Christian band who I rather enjoy. I'm not really all that big a fan of them really, though I think they're ok. I added them as an interest when I was looking at a friend's interest list and I though, "Huh. I kinda like them. I guess I'll add that to mine too." :) I believe the name comes from the fact that Jesus rose on the third day. :)
