In secret temples far from bustling cities and priestly hierarchies, orders of esoteric warriors train their initiates in ancient traditions now forgotten or forbidden by most religious organizations. The champions of these orders are avengersdeadly weapons in the hands of their gods, imbued with divine power through secret rites of initiation. In battle, avengers swear to execute divine vengeance, entering a mental state that gives them unerring focus on a single enemy.
As an avenger, you were trained in a monastery, initiated through secret rites, and imbued with the power to smite your god's foes. You might be a disciple of Ioun, sworn to hunt and exterminate the minions of Vecna until you one day face the Maimed God. You could be an agent of the Raven Queen, bringing death to those who would defy your mistress. Or perhaps you serve Bahamut as an agent of justice, bringing ruin to tyrants and oppressors. The organizations devoted to your god might view you as a heretic or a hero, but you answer only to your god and to the vows you swore upon your initiation as an avenger.
Where will those vows lead you? One thing is certain: Doing the will of your god is never easy and never free of peril.

You are a very sensitive person and you try hard (perhaps a little too hard) to make favourable impressions and to be recognised by your peers. But you have that inherent need to feel appreciated and admired and you are easily hurt if all of your endeavours go by unappreciated or not acknowledged. Stop trying so hard.
You enjoy taking part in anything that may constitute fun and excitement. You need to be stimulated and need to feel that 'Life is worth living' and you are awaiting that stimulation and you don't particularly care where it comes from!
You are a dreamer and you seek perfection in any relationship that you may establish. Some of your ideas and standards are over the top so it may be a good idea to review your perception of life and accept people for what they are - not for what you would like them to be.
You are being unduly influenced by the situation that is all around you. You do not like the feeling of loneliness and whatever it is that seems to separate you from others. You know that life can be wonderful and you are anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to live it to the full. You therefore resent any restriction or limitations that are being imposed on you and you insist on going it alone.
You are trying to build up your own position and you resist all external influences. You insist that you are your own person and you will not tolerate any outside interference. Decisive and proud, you are true managerial material.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.
From the right to the left that is the book Clock Repairing as a Hobby, the DVDs Phantom of the Paradise (1974) and the Platinum Edition of Sleeping Beauty (1959). Too bad I have plans to play LEGO Indiana Jones tonight or I would watch the DVDs. ;)
Must See Ghost Films
Oct. 10th, 2008 01:39 pmThe Armchair Commentary blog posted a list of 10 "must see ghost films" for this Halloween season. So I thought I would turn it into a little meme. Use italics for the ones you've seen and bold for any you own.
10. The Orphanage (2007)
9. The Others (2001)
8. Poltergeist (1982)
7. The Innocents (1961)
6. The Fog (1980) - The remake wasn't nearly as good.
5. House On Haunted Hill (1959) - I love William Castle films. For a better horror film the 1999 remake was better.
4. The Frighteners (1996)
3. Carnival Of Souls (1962)
2. The Haunting (1963) - Hands down this is my pick for the best horror film of all time. No dependence on special effects or gore. Just a solid tale of horror that oozes from Hill House. For the love of anything holy skip the 1999 remake.
1. The Shining (1980) - I like this version and the remake with Steven Weber.
What films would you add to the list?
Thank you for taking the test, and for your interest in state/church separation. Congratulations! You scored 16 correct out of 21!

Your result for The Steampunk Style Test...
The Gadgeteer
29% Elegant, 66% Technological, 43% Historical, 52% Adventurous and 14% Playful!
You are the Gadgeteer, the embodiment of steampunk technology. Ironically, many of the things that most define your style are probably too large to easily carry about, but given the opportunity you would prefer to be seen surrounded by boiler engines, gear-driven calculators, and incredible automata. Of all the steampunk fashion styles, you place the greatest emphasis on technological accessories, and you are the most likely to create elaborate gadgets that are as much a part of your outfit as your clothes. You probably have goggles, but unlike most people you consider them to be for more than decoration. Whereas most people might look odd carrying a satchel of tools around, for you they may well be essential. Above all, you remind everyone that what sets the genre apart from Victoriana is simply the level of technology.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.
- Pina Colada in a Pint Glass - Gaelic Storm
- Sparks of the Tempest - Kansas
- Information - The Rainmakers
- Stronger - Kanye West
- Newborn Race - Aryeon
- The Pretender - Foo Fighters
- Avanti - Corvus Corax

Who should I vote for?
Sep. 28th, 2007 01:51 pmWQAD has created a quiz to show you what candidates to vote for. You fill in your stance on various issues and the result ranks the candidates by how close their stance matches yours. Barak Obama was the lead candidate in my mind, but it looks like I'll have to start paying more attention to Dodd.

LJ Stuff Meme
May. 17th, 2007 12:20 pmcheesentoast tagged me so here you go!
- Comment and ask to be tagged!
- I will pick THREE of your interests and/or user pics I find odd or nifty!
- You post {or comment, as preference strikes}, explaining in detail about the three I chose!
So here are the three she picked for me:
Userpic - IVV logo
The International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV) is an international organization composed of national associations and clubs that organizes popular sports (volkssports) events.
I want to get out and get more active so I’ve been browsing the IVV pages for information on how to get started and events in the area.
Interest - tinne
Tinne is the Irish name of the 8th letter of the Ogham alphabet. It is also the word for holly and we all know how much I like Holly. ;)
Interest - Simon Barsinister
Simon Barsinister was my favorite villian from Underdog. There’s a nice statue that was produced to see what he looked like.
cheesentoast and I made up a new meme! Name your own
holiday and the traditions that go along with it!
On Bear Day, which is May 2nd, you sleep late in bed to make up for the late night you had in the woods the night before. The day is full of slack by watching movies or playing games. Traditional foods are leftover pizza, bacon, cheese and mouse.
What’s your holiday called and how do people celebrate it?
