Had a pretty grand day yesterday. Lots of birthday wishes from wonderful people. A grand time at my dinner party. Although getting spanked by someone from the other table was a bit odd. [livejournal.com profile] ragnorokt called but it was too noisy to talk.

I should have taken today off, but I want to save the time for St. Louis and Kansas City. Speaking of Missouri, my plans have changed. I'm still going to Missouri, but we're not going to Branson. I'll be spending some time with my family in St. Louis. During the week we will also come to Kansas City for a couple of days. So if you want to see me and [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen we'll be in the state from December 14th through the 21st. Let me know what days would work so I can try to organize when we'll be where. Oh, and if anyone was willing to host a get together so I don't have to drive all over the city that would be fantastic!

I couldn't wait anymore so at midnight I opened the package from my Mother. Inside I found The Man in Black: The International Johnny Cash, Computer Experiments Vol. 1 and two of the Xxenophile books. !!! Mom bought me pr0n for my birthday?!

I'm guessing she just picked things off of my wishlist. Still it's a bit unsettling. The Man in Black is awesome though. It's a German musician singing covers of JC songs and some JC singing in German.

Today is the beautiful [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen's birthday! I hope you have a great day, my love! Here's a song that makes me think of you:

How can you be
Like a sky stretched out before me
And the world is turning your way
Even darkness is better this way

Can it be true
That it all comes rushing from you
When my resistance is gone
And there's nothing that I can lean on

You are the wind at my back
You give what I lack
You're the jewel in my hand
You're like rain on dry land

You're the focus the beam
You're realities dream
You're the blue in my black
You're the wind at my back

All of the above
I'II have the lot for my love
And as we're becoming somehow
As we're changing the future to now

I just want to live
In the place that you have to give
I'll let the heat beat me down
Until the water comes down

You are the wind at my back
You give what I lack
You're the jewel in my hand
You're like rain on dry land

Yon're the focus the beam
You're realities dream
You're the blue in my black
You're the wind at my back

You are the wind at my back
You give what I lack
You're the jewel in my hand
You're like rain on dry land

And my soul has been kissed
Just because you exist
You're the dream that's a fact
You're the wind at my back

You're the wish that I make
You're the prize I might take
You're the gold that is free
You're the groom on one knee

You're the focus the beam
You're realities dream
You're the blue in my black
You're the wind at my back

Happy birthday to my favorite brother in the world, [livejournal.com profile] ragnorokt!!!

Thanks for all the votes. We have selected a time and place for my birthday dinner. (Yes, its a bit early but as you can tell October is a busy month of birthdays and parties so I wanted to give folks plenty of notice.) Here are the details:

Where:
Pegasus Pizza & Pasta
12669 NE 85th St, Kirkland, WA 98033 map
When:
Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at 7pm
Why:
Because I’m getting older.
Who:
All of you.

Your companionship and conversation is all that gift for me. This is the same place where [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen had her birthday for those who were there.

If you can read this you are invited to join me in celebrating once more around the wheel. The place we had originally picked requires a huge minimum to reserve space but during the week the minimum is much lower and not an issue. If there is too much of a conflict on a Tuesday night then I don't mind picking a new location.

There’s less than two months left until my birthday so I can’t buy myself anything on my wish list. Which sucks a bit because I found quite a few games I want to play at PAX. All is not lost though because I am really enjoying EVE Online. ;)

This past weekend [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I attended Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). I had a pretty good time and I’ve already blocked out a room at the Camlin for the next one. For me one of the greatest parts of the event was getting some hands-on time with upcoming games and chatting with some of the developers.

I was able to spend some quality time talking to the people behind The Goblin Game, EVE Online and Pirates of the Burning Sea. Because of that quality time I am very interested in all three of these games that had only been on the edge of my thoughts. I also was able to eliminate a few games I thought I wanted from my wishlist as they didn’t turn out to be all that. The big example of that is The Eye of Judgment. I had fun playing but the game requires too much equipment and card collecting for me to really enjoy it.

I have also selected my big wish for my birthday this year. I have been wanting a new console for a while but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stick with Sony and the PS3 or make the move to Microsoft’s X-Box. After my hands on experience this weekend the X-Box 360 Elite is the winner.

Oh, Rock Band was just as hot in person as it looks in the videos and reviews. I’m so going to get that game!

For my birthday I'm going to something I've wanted to do for a long time and try to brew my own beer, make some cider and a batch of root beer. To get an idea of how much of each I should make I am curious to know what my friends would be interested in trying. So I give you a poll.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen!!!

I was finally able to extract the photos from my birthday party. You can see all of this years mayhem in my photo gallery.

Back to Civilization IV.

hollyking: (compass)

I had a pretty good birthday this year. Last night was the usual debauchery at the Rheinlander where much fun was had by all and much beer was drunk by yours truly. One casualty of the night was our digital camera took a tumble and finally gave up the ghost. The pictures are safe but it will take me a couple of days to get them off of the memory card.

Today [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen treated me to dinner and a movie. We went and saw The Fog (2005). It wasn't a bad movie but it wasn't a particularly good one either. I was startled a few times but there was never a sense of horror or foreboding. Part of the problem was all the cell phones that kept ringing and the idiots who wouldn't shut up in the theater. I was never able to get into flow of the movie. I spent a lot of time noting all the changes from the original. If you are in the mood for a good horror film I'm afraid you aren't going to find anything in this years selections. You would have better luck turning off the lights and throwing in a copy of the original.

[livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen always gets me the best presents. For example, I've really wanted to learn how to sail and this year she gave me a copy of the navigation rules. I love her so much! On top of everything else she's making me spaghetti for dinner. I'm a lucky guy.
