Last night while running around Darkshire killing wolves I watched Who Wants to Be A Superhero?. I expected the show to be silly goofy trash to have in the background, but I found myself spending more time watching the show than gaming. I'm actually hooked by a "reality" show and will have to watch the rest of the series.
The first elimination happened at the very beginning of the show. Levity was eliminated because he wanted to make an action figure of himself to sell and make money. I thought that the Iron Enforcer should have been the one to go but that's just because I don't care for his bravado.
The heroes were let loose in a park in street clothes and told that when given the signal they needed to secretly change into their outfits and then race to an archway. When they started getting the call they all ended up running by a girl who was crying "Where's my mommy? I've lost my mommy!" Most of the heroes didn't stop, but a few did give up the race to help the girl find her mother. So now you see who the real heroes are in the group.
In the evening three heroes were called up to stand before Stan Lee and given a chance to explain why they should stay.
Monkey Woman (loree's Mom? ;) was called up because the girl clearly turned to face Monkey Woman as she ran past. I think that Creature should have been called instead. While Monkey Woman did run past the girl Creature turned to look at the girl and just kept on running. Monkey Woman did give a passionate plea for staying in the show.
The Iron Enforcer was up for elimination again because he just blasted right by the girl. He also swiped most of his speech from Monkey Woman. I have the feeling he's going to be on the edge of elimination for most of the show.
Nitro G was the last hero up for elimination. He was another one who didn't stop to help the girl but he also committed the sin of changing into his costume in full view of the public. So he had to turn in his suit and leave the show. I think his key flaw was grinning while being admonished by Stan Lee. Do not piss off Happy Fun Stan Lee.
My favorite hero at the moment is Major Victory. Not only is he the only male who stopped to help the girl he has a flashy way of moving and running that is entertaining. Also I like his catch phrase, which is "Be a winner, not a weiner!" What's not to like? Ok, Lemuria and Cell Phone Girl are also fun to watch bobble around in their costumes, but they don't have the panache of Major Victory.
Another hero I hope does well is Tyveculus. You got to love a guy who's a Fire Captain who goes off on a goofy quest to be a superhero for his kids.
So that's my take on the first episode of Who Wants to Be A Superhero? Did anyone else watch it?
