James Rollins and Adam Fawer
Jun. 20th, 2005 10:25 pmTonight while hollyqueen was out with some of the girls I went down to Powell's Books to hear a reading by James Rollins and Adam Fawer. I picked up James' latest book Map of Bones on a whim and I really liked it. I hadn't heard of Adam before tonight, but after listening to him talk about his book I picked it up too.
Neither one of them actually read from their books but they talked about how they wrote their books and gave a bit of background in the process of being a writer. Heck, they even made me believe that I could write a book and I found myself thinking of ideas on the way home. Then I came to my senses and just enjoyed the thought of writing a book. ;)
I already owned a copy of Map of Bones (MoB) so I picked up a copy of Sandstorm for James to sign. We talked about the email I sent to him at 1AM after I finshed MoB and he signed my book with:
For Brendan, may adventure fill all your days and nights... ...get some sleep! Best, JPR.
As I said before I didn't know much about Adam before tonight but his talk intrigued me about his book. So I picked up a copy of his first book, Improbable, and waited to get it signed. His signature reads:
Brendan, thanks for the support! Adam Fawer
So now I have two more books added to Mt. Toberead. I guess it's a good thing that I'm making myself read for at least an hour everyday, otherwise I would never get through this stack. ;)
