...to save the human race. Unlike other aliens I know Klaus Nomi says he was here to help us. He sure helped my mood this morning with his stunning rendition of Cold Song from Henry Purcell's semi-opera King Arthur. The lyrics are:

What power art thou,
Who from below,
Hast made me rise,
Unwillingly and slow,
From beds of everlasting snow!

See'st thou not how stiff,
How stiff and wondrous old,
Far unfit to bear the bitter cold.

I can scarcely move,
Or draw my breath,
Can scarcely move,
Or draw my breath.

Let me, let me,
Let me, let me,
Freeze again...
Let me, let me,
Freeze again to death!

Let me, let me,
Let me, let me,
Freeze again to death!

But that doesn't give you a true idea of the emotion and quality of this song. The haunting lyrics are matched by Klaus' haunting contratenor singing. Too bad I didn't discover Klaus until he showed up as a villian on The Venture Brothers.
