Watch it Rise

Last night I made a promise to bake something every week. An Iron Baker project, like Iron Epistle except that I won’t be asking for requests yet. Eventually I think I would like to have some requests to stretch my skills and recipes.

What I would like right now are recommendations on basic books on baking. I don’t have space for the KitchenAid mixer I want so I’m going to focus on recipes that I can mix and knead by hand. Do you have any books you would recommend? I have ordered Alton Brown’s I’m Just Here for More Food: Food x Mixing + Heat = Baking today. What other books, or other media, would you bakers recommend?

The Black Adder

I just have to take a moment to say how much I love Rowan Atkinson in The Black Adder. I watched The Archbishop at lunch today and had a great laugh.
