DMC was nice enough to send me an instructors kit so I have the patterns and supplies to make 5 small lighthouse designs. If you've ever wanted to learn how to cross-stich and just needed an excuse here is one. I'll teach you and provide the materials you need for your first project. Who wants to learn the great art of cross-stitch?

If you want to learn and you aren't interested in the lighthouse design I'll teach you with any pattern you would like but you need to provide the materials.

Joel Spolsky posted about using Markdown and SmartyPants automagically converting text into HTML for posting. I liked the idea but didn’t want to switch to his editor. So I hacked up a version in elisp so I can keep chugging right along in Emacs.

Ooh… I like how this turned out. It’s a little rough around the edges but as a “work in progress” it’s doing pretty well. The first thing to fix is to be able to run one command that runs the text through Markdown and SmartyPants. Right now I have to run them one after the other.

hollyqueen presented me with the coolest book for my birthday yesterday. It’s called Subversive Cross Stitch by Julie Jackson. Don’t I have the greatest wife evar?
