Pile Driver!
Mar. 10th, 2008 12:23 pmToday in 1791 John Stone was awarded a patent for the pile driver. I started a post about pounding again and again to find a direction for my life. While I was writing it I realized that my problem wasn’t finding a direction, it is taking the steps to start heading in that direction. It’s like my GPS receiver. When I’m standing still it spins around and around trying to figure out which way is north. As soon as I start walking it knows which way I’m going and instantly points to north.
So I’m going to strike off in a direction. It might not be the right
direction but it will help me figure out which way I should be going.
I’m so happy to have hollyqueen beside me right now. She
gives me a kick in the pants when I need it and is always helpful with
her advice and suggestions. Thank you, my love.
So what do I want to do? I know that while computers and programming are my livelihood they are not my life. They are fun toys and useful tools but I spend enough time on them at work. No more programming at home and trying to learn weird languages. (Not that I won’t keep working on improvement at work. C# here I come!)
So what will I do with all the time I have been spending on the computer? Writing letters that I need to send. Learning things like German, cooking and Morse code. Making things like the baking, cross stitch, beadpoint and building electronics gear. Doing things like walking, hiking, kayaking, biking and playing one of my instruments.
