Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] jw1776 took me to my first Sounders FC game. I had a great time. Although when I, who doesn't know much about soccer, can recognize crappy calls you know that the officials screwed up. Marching to the field with the band brought back a lot of memories from my marching band days.

I made a comment about Andy Griffith's stand-up routine about football. Did you know he did stand up? Pretty funny stuff. So here's his bit about football animated by George Woodbridge, an artist for Mad Magazine. Enjoy!

It’s that time of the year again. The time when we eat far too many snacks, pay more attention to the commercials than the actual game and generally have fun. So I’m setting up a party to watch the Chicago Bears whoop the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI. Since we don’t have a huge place to watch the game I wanted to get an idea of how many people would be interested in coming over.

The kick-off for the game is at 3:25pm on Sunday February 4th, although I’ll be up getting ready much earlier than that. We’ll have some snacks but folks are asked to bring something to share. We have a dining room table now so there will be a place for folks to play games if they’re not interested in the game.

Please reply to his poll so I can start setting up the invitation and the guest list.

I just read that Lamar Hunt died last night. Thanks bringing the Chiefs Kansas City.

Go 'Hawks!

After having two field goals blocked earlier in the game it was nice to see the Seahawks make one in the last seconds of the game to win their first game of the season at Detroit.

Too bad the Chiefs weren't able to pull off a win. I wasn't able to see the game but a news bit showed a pretty nasty hit on Trent Green. They didn't show the whole play but from what I saw there should have been a penalty called.

During the game I was able to finish stitching a small gift for [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen. Football/Crafting season is back in full force. Yay!

During an idle moment today I was browsing the NFL website and I found the list of opponents for next season. The Chiefs have a home game with Seattle so I'll get to watch at least one game next season. Kansas City's opponents for next year are Denver, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco, Baltimore, Cincinatti, Seattle, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Arizona, St. Louis and Miami.

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend is lucky that we don't have any games with the Jets. That way he won't have to watch his team get routed by my team and his old coach. ;)

[livejournal.com profile] jamee13 isn't as lucky. The Steeler's are going down! Crushed I tell you!

How in the hell did I miss Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)? I just watched it and that was damn good. Because it was made by Disney it could have been better. Imagine a really dark version. Now I'll have to scrounge up a copy of the book to read.

While watching it [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I were talking about how Jonathan Pryce was creepy and we wondered if he even creepy as a child. I think Jonathan is a fine actor who is able to draw out the dark and mysterious side of himself to add to his performance. Christopher Walken on the other hand is one sick creepy dude and has been since before birth.

Oh, before I forget! Yay Seahawks! Sure I would rather see the Chiefs play in the Superbowl but I'm gonna love watching the local guys in the big game.

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: Thanks for stealing my coach.

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: STEALING.

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: 4th round pick?

[livejournal.com profile] hollyking says: Stealing?

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: A steal.

[livejournal.com profile] hollyking says: Ahhh... I see.

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: OK. So our crappy mgmt kicked him out, but you...you...4th round pick?

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

[livejournal.com profile] hollyking says: We pay the price the market will bear.

[livejournal.com profile] popfiend says: We suck!

Why didn't someone tell me about this last year? It seems that the university where the Kansas City Chiefs hold their training camp has a few staff and students covering the events and updating a website with all the information. I've been starved for the day-to-day news about the Chiefs ever since I moved to Oregon. Now I'll be able to read about how the rookies are progressing and even find some recipes.

In other news, I'm now the 5th most dreaded pirate in the Spanish Main. Damn, I'm really enjoying Sid Meier's Pirates! I love how the game is very open and there are many paths to follow. I could be the Dread Pirate Brendan, Admiral Brendan of the English Navy or even Captain Brendan the simple trader working along the coast. I just have to get better at dancing so I can woo the governer's daughter.
