Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tithonium I am again a ROCK GOD as I play Guitar Hero III!!! My allegiance to my most benevolent dictator has again been rewarded.

GH3 has a new co-op career mode so I'm looking for someone who would like to rock out with me. There are some songs that are only available in co-op career mode and they call out for release!

Speaking of players are there any aspiring drummers out there? Rock Band is coming and [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I have singing and one of the guitars covered. We could use another guitar player and a drummer to round out our band. Actually I wouldn't mind anyone wanting to play any part. There's enough to go around with all the Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.

As you all should know by now I'm a huge fan of the Guitar Hero games. I've been suffering because I was only to play Guitar Hero 3 once. The next day I kept getting disc read errors. So I exchanged the game for a new copy. This time I didn't even get to play once. The first time I got a disc read error. Grrrr...

Does anyone in the Seattle area have a PS2? I would like to try the game somewhere else to see if I was unlucky enough to get a second defective disc or if my PS2 has started to suffer from the problems the rest of the early models had.

Friday [livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast and I went to Bellevue Square to spend money at the Apple Store and GameStop. The Apple Store was packed with folks waiting to buy Leopard, so we skipped that mess. GameStop didn’t have the game I wanted so we didn’t spend too much time there either.

Saturday started with $little and I going to the Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie. Too bad I didn’t check this out earlier because we could have gone for a ride on one of the trains. Not only did we enjoy the trains and the museum, but we had a good time talking on the way there and back. The best part for me was finding out that the sailing trip we had a few weeks before was a fun time.

That evening [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I went out for dinner and some shopping. We tried the new Herfy’s Burgers in Redmond. We both enjoyed the food, it was much better than the Chinese place that used to be there. Next we headed to Fred Meyer to look for games and a scarf for [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen. No game for me, but she found a nice pink fuzzy scarf that’s long enough for three people.

After FM we went to EB Games at Redmond Town Center. Score! Not only did I find Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and Picross DS, but on a whim I asked if they were going to have any copies of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The sales guy said probably not if I didn’t pre-order a copy. So, expecting the answer to be no, I asked if it was still possible to pre-order the game. It turns out I was wrong because I could still pre-order the game. So I did.

Sunday was a nice and lazy day for the most part. [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I had a good long snuggle before getting out of bed. We needed groceries, I had books on hold at the library and GH3 was waiting at EB. I dropped [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and [livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast off at the store. I headed to EB Games and picked up the game then headed to the library. I had about 15 minutes to wait for them to open so I started playing Picross. After the library opened [livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast messaged me that they were done. So I grabbed my holds from the shelf and collected them and we all went home.

After a tasty sausage lunch made by [livejournal.com profile] cheesentoast I cracked open GH3 and worked my way through the game on the easy mode. There are a lot of dang songs. I was very happy to find out that the new developers actually made a better Guitar Hero game with this new version. There more interesting venues and the entertaining cut-scene videos. My favorite bit is that some of the songs are done by the original artists. I was able to get 5 stars for all the songs except Raining Blood by Slayer. My hands were too tired so I gave it a break.

The evening was filled with catching up on a few of our shows and a wonderful dinner of bean soup made by [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen. Ah, a very good weekend.

Tonight I picked up a copy of Official U.S. Playstation Magazine to play the demo for Guitar Hero II that is included with the magazine. That game is gonna rock! I can’t wait to play the final version with all the songs. Hey [livejournal.com profile] jamee13 do you wanna challenge me again? GH2 is going to have a head-to-head mode. *grin*

Along with GH2 and the other demos there were videos for a few upcoming games. I didn’t find most of them very interesting but two stood out for various reasons.

First there was Rule of Rose. It was very creepy and the story line reminded me a bit of The 7th Guest. The reviews I’ve read compare RoR to games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil but they also point out that it’s possible to skip most of the combat and focus on the storyline. That’s right up my alley because the part I enjoy most is solving the puzzles and exploring the game world.

In a nutshell the story in Rule of Rose is that Jennifer has found herself trapped in an alternate universe ruled by young girls who call themselves the “Red Crayon Aristocrats.” Every month Jennifer must find a gift for the Aristocrats or she’ll be killed. So while searching for gifts you are also searching for the way out. There is a trailer for Rule of Rose on the Atlus website.

The other game was .hack//G.U. Vol. 1//Rebirth which is a sequel to the .hack series from Namco Bandai. I’ve been waiting on this one for a while and now it’s going to be released on October 24th. I guess that means I need to hurry and finish up the first series of games. Just like I need to finish Kingdom Hearts so I can play Kingdom Hearts II. grin

To make [livejournal.com profile] walbourn happy, not really, I also pre-ordered [Neverwinter Nights 2][nwn2] and World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade. I’m hoping Microsoft’s new Games for Windows push will bring a new wave of good RPG and adventure games. Personally I couldn’t care for BattleQuake: 1632 or any of the 100 other FPS games just like it.

Rokk Gawd!
