hollyking: (music)

I dumped my change jar into a Coinstar machine and now I have a shiny new iTunes certificate burning a hole in my wallet. So I was hoping to get some suggestions of music to add to my collection. What do you like?

I would give you a list of music that I like but that would be huge. I like pretty much all music so here’s a bit about my favorites and what I’m looking for today. Since this is for iTunes that means it’s for my iPod and should be upbeat songs to sing while I’m slaving away at a hot computer. Newer music would be very new to me but don’t let that stop you from pulling out a gem from the past.

While I love 80s pop and rock I have tons of that so I don’t need anymore. I also love progressive rock and have everything by Kansas, a lot of Rush, and Dream Theater.

Another favorite genre is Irish/Celtic music. I have a lot of traditional music by the Chieftains. For now I would be more interested in “kitchen ceilidh” bands that play uptempo versions of traditional songs.

German bands and good covers are always welcome. So, does anyone have some suggestions for me?

I know that one of you Puget Sound folks would have some suggestions. [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I want to go for a bit of a picnic and nature hike this weekend. Where would you go to get out of the city and enjoy a bit of greenery and wildlife?
