Hey everybody! It's hollyqueen's birthday today!
Enjoy your special day, my love!
Last week I spend a lot of time playing phone tag with our contact at the Washington County DHS. Understandably, she's a very busy woman and I kept forgetting my mobile phone at my desk so I missed her calls. We finally made contact this morning when she called. She sounded very excited when I told her that we were looking at adopting older children and were willing to adopt a set of siblings. It seems strange to me to have the love and care to adopt a child, but then break them up from what little family they have left. I guess I'm big on the thought that they might be cheaper by the dozen. ;)
Miss Vandijk is sending us an adoption interest packet. It contains information about the process of adoption and the classes that we have to take. They don't include the actual application or paperwork because those are handed out as part of the classes. Instead of waiting for the packet I went ahead and registered hollyqueen and I for the next available set. So if anyone plans anything on Saturday mornings during April or May we're going to have to bow out. Because the classes start at 9am that cuts into a lot of late Friday night plans as well, but that's a change I'm willing to make.
I wished the classes started sooner, but considering all the other things we have to do it's probably a good thing. I still need to go through a mountain of junk and weed out what I want to keep from the trash. We need to find a bigger apartment, because a 2 bedroom unit will not be enough. My filing system has been to toss things into a box and sift through it when I need to find anything. As you can guess this isn't a good solution and I need to sift through all of that too. Time to get busy.
