I went to the mall to pick up the box of Perplex City cards that arrived today. While walking through Borders I saw an issue of Pirates Magazine on the shelf. Well I just had to pick up a copy. [livejournal.com profile] qt3_14159!!! I think you'll like it.

I enjoy puzzles and puzzle based games so I was really enjoying Perplex City. I was never able to collect all the cards because I started late and there were quite a few from the first wave I didn’t have. Now the Cube has been found and someone has won the $100,000 prize.

The good news is that means the second season is about to start. Now that I know about the game I can get started at the beginning and hopefully be able to get all the cards and complete the game.

Now if they would just get off their duffs and update the website. It was supposed to be open on the 15th. Still no update and the website says “Please stop pressing refresh. We know you’re doing it, we see everything…” Well if you want us to stop hitting refresh get the site posted already. Something. Anything.

I've been spending lunch hours solving Perplex City cards. So far I've solved most of the red cards (the easiest difficult) and have started on the orange set. Here's the card I solved today:

I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that there isn't a Boy Power website that's run by the government. I think they could benefit from the same sort of information tailored to them.

Update: Fixed the broken image link.

HollyKing's Personal Assessment

Check yourself into a mental institution at the earliest available opportunity. Don't close your eyes. Staring into infinity can only lead to a sense of inadequacy and ultimately insanity. Like your hero TJ Hooker you tackle challenges head-on with determination and vigour paying scant attention to the law. This devil-may-care attitude may work for fictional crimefighters but it can be counterproductive in real life.

Your responses to the inkblot test suggest that you lack imagination. A trip to a local gallery may help to stimulate your visual senses. Psychotropic drugs may also be of use.

If it wasn't bad enough that I went on a book buying rampage I've found a new addiction. At Norwescon I picked up a bunch of flyers off of a table and some of them contained puzzles. I love puzzles and logic problems. So now I'm playing Perplex City.

So far I've solved 5 of the cards and hundred or so to go. At least it's mental exercise, right? Right?

In other notes, [livejournal.com profile] hollyqueen and I went to see V for Vendetta (2005) tonight. Good movie. I have a couple of questions about the story so I guess I'll scare up a copy of the graphic novel and see if they are answered in it.
